Artist’s Statement

"but some of her words remain unspoken"

My drawings always reflect movement, even when the subject is still. All forms are constantly changing, depending on what they happen to be feeling, thinking, or doing. Each has its unique natural energy. So, when I focus upon any subject, whatever I am drawing comes upon me as an entire unit of energy, as a complete moment of movement; and I feel this energy and movement as a real thing in its own right, distinct from its form. The full movement in space brings together the various individual elements of the form. It unites them. The poet Mark Strand wrote that

“We all have reasons

for moving.

I move

to keep things whole.”

I draw to find the movement within that which is whole.
